About the Rotary Club of South Gwinnett County
The South Gwinnett Rotary Club was chartered on September 17, 1982. We are a medium-size club, with about 50 members—small enough for all of our members to enjoy friendships with each other, but large enough to undertake significant service projects. Our meetings are informal and fun, filled with good humor and fellowship.
Among Rotary clubs in our district, we have always been a leader and have received several medium size Club of the Year award. Our membership includes a past District Governor and other leaders at the district level.
We do a variety of service projects in our community and internationally. Some we support with funding only, some involve volunteer work by our members, and other involve both. Club members volunteer in projects to the extent that wish, based upon their interests and availability.
Although many of our projects vary annually, there are some that we enjoy every year, including a Christmas party got the foster children of the county, complete with Santa Claus and individualized gifts. We award a four-year college scholarship each year to a deserving Gwinnett County student, funded by our annually golf tournament, We also sponsor a one-year ambassadorial scholarship for a student from abroad to attend college in Georgia, and two Interact Service Clubs in Gwinnett County high schools. We have many other opportunities for service.
